About The San Diego Civic Youth Ballet

San Diego Civic Youth Ballet (“SDCYB”), established in 1945, is the resident classical ballet school in Balboa Park. Its mission is to serve the youth of San Diego with classical ballet training and performing opportunities for all. SDCYB is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.

SDCYB offers classes for four-year-old tiny tots to pre-professional upper-level students. Pre-professional technique classes include pointe, variations and modern dance. SDCYB also offers adult ballet classes.

Young artists are given the opportunity to perform in at least two major productions each year in the Casa del Prado Theater, including The Nutcracker. Students experience the thrill of performing before an audience while learning the practical aspects of the theater.
