Allyson Blömstrand, Outreach Instructor
Mrs. Blömstrand began her studies with New West Ballet where she was classically trained. As a teenager she joined San Elijo Youth Ballet Company, performing neoclassical and contemporary roles. She continued her studies in many forms of dance at Palomar College and performed and choreographed for the dance department. Other credits include dancing in productions with the Stuttgart Ballet, Ballet Nacional de Cuba, and performed and choreographed a solo for Firebird accompanied by the San Diego Symphony Hot Shots Concert. During her pre-professional years, she studied with Alonzo King’s Lines, Atlanta Ballet, Boston Ballet and Kaatsbaan: Kevin McKenzie and Martine van Hamel. Summer intensives also include San Diego Ballet and New West Ballet School. This took her to Pittsburgh Ballet Company where she danced for a season. She then danced for Anaheim Ballet, under the direction of Larry Rosenberg. In 2012, she joined American Contemporary Ballet in coordination with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, performing original neoclassical pieces. Mrs. Blömstrand joined California Ballet Company in 2013 and was promoted to soloist in 2015. She enjoys teaching and mentoring students of all ages. She choreographs and produces productions; and loves to design and construct costumes. Mrs. Blömstrand is happy to be a part of the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet family!
