Since its inception in 1945, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet has held the distinction of being the resident classical ballet school in Balboa Park. As the oldest, continuously operating ballet school in San Diego, SDCYB is reaching out to seven decades of dancers to create an alumni community and restore the history of the organization.

We are building an alumni program that will serve as a place to reconnect with former students, build the history of SDCYB, digitize SDCYB photos and archives, and create a networking opportunity for current students. As we reflect on over 70 years of ballet education, we are energized by the prospect of reconnecting to our roots and meeting those who have been touched by our organization throughout its historic tenure in Balboa Park.

In 2015, and coinciding with SDCYB's 70th Anniversary as well as Balboa Park's Centennial Celebration, we brought together dancers from each decade for a photo shoot entitled, "Seven Decades of Ballet in Balboa Park."  This collection was taken by photographer Marshall Williams and the stories of these dancers, as well as more photos, are currently on display in the Youth in Arts Exhibit in the lobby of the Casa del Prado Theater.
