Tell us about your ballet journey. When did you start dancing?

I started dancing when I was 4, but I decided to focus seriously on classical ballet at the age of 9 while studying at "Escuela de Danza Gloria Campobello" in Mexico. My first performance was in The Nutcracker, where I danced as a party girl, a member of the Sugar Plum corps, and a gingerbread girl. I remember being so excited. I continued my ballet journey in the same school for 10 years and got the privilege to dance Don Quixote, Carmen, Swan Lake, Giselle, and Sleeping Beauty. After that, I decided to pursue a Dance Major in "Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey," and after four years I earned a BA in Dance Education, with a focus on classical ballet. Throughout the years, I trained in different summer intensives with Joffrey Ballet School, Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, "Escuela Nacional de Arte" (ENA) and got certified by ABT in their teachers program. This past year I was honored to attend a training for ballet teacher at the "Opéra National de Paris École de Danse."

What do you love about SDCYB?

What I love most about SDCYB is the immediate sense of belonging I felt upon joining this beautiful community. The students, families, and coworkers are incredible, and it is a joy to work here every day.

Can you share a memorable moment from working at SDCYB?

One of my favorite memories at SDCYB was when Miss Danika entrusted me with leading the rehearsals for the party scene in 2023. I remember feeling so excited to contribute to The Nutcracker as a teacher. To this day, I greatly enjoy working closely with students to prepare them for their performances.

Next year will be SDCYB’s 80th anniversary. What’s something you’re looking forward to?

I am very excited for the 80th anniversary of SDCYB because I know they are preparing a significant celebration, especially with the upcoming Firebird production. I can’t wait to see this premiere with our students.
