Summer Programs

Jared Brouillette is from Boston, Massachusetts, and began his ballet training at the age of nine at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts in Franklin, MA under Cheryl Madeux Abbott. At the age of fourteen, Jared started training on scholarship at the Boston Ballet School under the direction of Margaret Tracey and Peter Stark in the Pre-Professional Training program, where he remained for five years, the last two as a Trainee. As a trainee with Boston Ballet, he had the opportunity to perform with the Boston Ballet Company in productions including Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker, George Balanchine’s Coppelia, and Frederick Ashton’sCinderella. In 2020, Jared went on to join Pacific Northwest Ballet School’s Professional Division where he trained under the direction of Peter Boal. For the 2021/2022 season, he danced with Kansas City Ballet II under the direction of Devon Carney and Christopher Ruud. Jared joined BalletMet 2 in Columbus, Ohio under the direction of Edwaard Liang for the 2022/2023 season. In 2023, Jared joined City Ballet of San Diego as a company member.

Born and raised in Venezuela, Graciela trained in Caracas and at Boston Ballet on a government scholarship. She earned a Harkness Ballet Internship in New York, holds a BFA in performing arts, a Certificate in the Cuban syllabus, and is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique. She has received two USF teaching development grants. She performed with Ballet Teresa Carreño alongside Rudolf Nureyev and was a principal dancer with Ballet Nuevo Mundo de Caracas, working with noted choreographers like Judith Jamison and Ulises Dove. Her international career included performances in South America, the US, Europe, and Asia, including with Oakland Ballet. Graciela has taught in the Bay Area for over twenty years. She co-directed summer programs for Pacific Dance Theater, served as associate director at Western Ballet, and helped launch the Mark Foehringer Dance Project. She’s guest taught for Tampa City Ballet, Geneva Conservatoire, and more. She’s taught at the University of Nebraska, LINES Dance Center, and Marin Ballet, and helped launch a study abroad program with Webster University in Geneva. In 2015, she created a ballet program for Latino youth at San Francisco’s Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts. Currently, she teaches at Berkeley Ballet, Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, Ayako Ballet School, and Dance Attack. At USF, she built a partnership with Alonzo King LINES Ballet. Graciela emphasizes strong technique, versatility, and individuality. Her students have gone on to Juilliard, NYU, and San Francisco Ballet.

John Lam recently retired from a 20-year career with the Boston Ballet. Lam began dancing at the age of four at the Marin Ballet in San Rafael, California. He rose quickly and was awarded a scholarship to attend Canada's prestigious National Ballet School before being invited to join the Boston Ballet in 2003, where he was named principal dancer in 2014, performing in leading roles and multiple premieres created specially for Lam. He has been lauded by the Boston Globe as one of Boston Ballet's "most versatile and expressive soloists." In addition to his stage work, Lam has choreographed and produced an array of independent dance films which have received critical acclaim at international dance film festivals. Lam appeared in the Disney film The Game Plan, and performed the role of Ariel in the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s Production of The Tempest. Most recently, Lam served as a principal core dancer performer in the Amazon Prime series Étoile. He continues to bring authenticity and passion to his craft as a creative director, dancer, teacher, choreographer, actor, and arts advocate. As an extension of Lam's commitment to the arts, LamDanceWorks was established in 2024 to engage and inspire members of the community through the collaborative production of innovative dance works reflecting the full spectrum of artistic expression for years to come. Lam is married and the father of two beautiful boys.
