Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Ting Liu was drawn to the ballet barre at a very young age. She began to pursue a professional career at the age of twelve studying under former principal dancer of the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Deborah Hadley, and later on under the direction of former Bolshoi soloist Viktoria Titova. Ting has attended several ballet intensives across the United States, studying with Ballet Bellevue (under the direction of Jennifer Porter), the Kirov Ballet in Washington D.C, the American Ballet Theatre, and Atlanta Ballet. Ting’s repertoire includes dancing in productions of Raymonda, Giselle, Les Sylphides, Coppélia, and solo and principal roles in The Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, The Mermaid, Paquita, Swan Lake, and the Nutcracker. As a teacher, Ting finds incredible joy in creating a structured yet fun class to help dancers of all ages refine and strengthen their ballet technique. Ting attended the University of Washington and moved to San Diego in 2013 to attend law school at the University of San Diego. After clerking for a federal judge, Ting accepted an associate position with a plaintiffs class action securities law firm in downtown San Diego. Having been a substitute for San Diego Civic Youth Ballet beginning in 2014, Ting is ecstatic to be again joining the faculty of this historic ballet school.
