Ira Bauer-Spector is the Marketing Director for the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet in Balboa Park.  He is a creative marketing professional and graphic designer, as well as a theatre artist and educator.  For his work at SDCYB and throughout the Balboa Park community, he was the recipient of the 2017 Betty Peabody Emerging Young Leader of Balboa Park Award from Friends of Balboa Park.  He holds two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Musical Theatre and Theatre Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder (Summa cum Laude) and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre (Directing Emphasis) from San Diego State University.  He has worked as a marketing professional, theatre artist and graphic designer all over the country including Chicago and New York, and since moving to San Diego, has worked at a variety of companies including The Old Globe and Diversionary.  Since 2011, he has also directed nine productions at San Diego Junior Theatre in Balboa Park including James and the Giant Peach, HONK!Flight of the Lawnchair Man, and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane in March 2016, for which he was the recipient of the National Youth Arts Award for Outstanding Direction.  He is also the Founding Artistic Director of the education-focused nonprofit organization, Breakthrough Workshop Theatre, which was founded in 2013.  He is honored to be a part of SDCYB and to call Balboa Park a home away from home.  Contact: ira@sdcyb.org.
