Marissa Shoten is the Director of Philanthropy for the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet in Balboa Park. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication and a Master of Science in Arts Administration, both from Boston University.  She has worked in non-profit development, operations, and administration at various organizations, including Boston Ballet School, Boston Center for the Arts, Jewish Arts Collaborative, and most recently at San Diego County Dental Foundation, where she revived the annual giving program and planned several successful galas. In 2021, she convened Small Shop Development Professionals, a peer group for small fundraising teams. In addition to her professional skills, Marissa has been involved in performing arts for many years, and has a deep love for musical theatre and stage management. She started ballet at age 5 and has been dancing ever since, though these days you’re more likely to find her behind the scenes. Contact: marissa@sdcyb.org
